Breaking News: Collins will start; Vince #2

by

According to ESPN and Chris Mortenson, Kerry Collins will be the starting quarterback for today’s game against the Texans.  Vince Young will be active for the game, and will serve as the team’s #2 qb.
Collins will be expected to manage the game effectively and to avoid the turnover bug.
If Collins is unable to move the Titan offense, it will be interesting to see if Young will enter the game at some point. The perfect storyline for the outcome of this game would be for Young to heroically emerge from the bench to rescue the Titans from the clutches of defeat, sticking yet another dagger into his hometown franchise that decided to pass him up in the 2006 draft.

i glad that they aren’t trying to start vince, quad tares can worse really fast. i’d rather miss him for this game, instead of him playing for two series and then taring it worse and being out for 6 to 8 weeks.
hopefully the titans can get their first win with KC behind center.
    go titans

It is going to be interesting to see how Fisher handles the qb situation today. If Collins is effective, I fully expect to see him play the entire contest. However, there is going to be a big temptation to play Vince if Collins is ineffective, especially considering how bad Vince wants to play in front of his hometown fans.

Jeff Fisher just hinted on the pregame radio show that Vince probably wouldn’t play unless Collins was injured. He also said he expects Vince to be back at full strength and start again next week.
Listening to Norm Chow on the radio, it seems that the game plan is full of stuff for Collins, and they worked a lot in practice this week on the hot reads Collins would be making for quick throws to the receivers. Sounds like they’re expecting Houston to blitz Collins a lot.

wow, that was ugly…even for the titans, but i’ll take the win.

  5. Drexel Perry Says:

Kudos to Kerry Collins: he played effectively today and when it mattered the most, completed a long pass to put the team in the position to win.
