Big Country out for two weeks

by

One of the Titans’ biggest strengths is their young offensive tackle duo of Michael Roos and David Stewart. Both were assured to be in Nashville for the forseeable future as a result of the contract extensions they signed during the offseason.
For the next couple of weeks, the Titans will be missing the presence of one-half of their set of bookend offensive tackles.

According to The Tennessean, “Big Country” will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery today and will miss the next two preseason games.
The article suggests that their is a possibility that Stewart will be able to return for the club’s final preseason game, but in all likelihood, we won’t see Big Country again until the monumental first game of the regular season against the Jags.
Jack-of-all-trades lineman Daniel Loper, who filled in at right guard during the Titans’ playoff loss to the Chargers last year, will replace Stewart in the lineup.
Losing Stewart is a bitter pill to swallow, but thankfully, he should be ready to go when the games start to count.

Yep, at least it happens now. It sounds like he’ll be ready to go by week one, which is good. The Jags did a good job really exploiting his ankle injury in the second game last year, and I wouldn’t be looking forward to a repeat of that.

That means he will be healthy by time the season starts. Couple of reps for loper might get him off to a good start if stewart has any other issues with his ankle.

  3. Brent Says:

Well lets hope everything goes well and he comes back healthy – otherwise he should stay on PuP.
It would suck if he comes back too early and then has to go on IR.
I expect big things coming from the Titans this year and you need to keep it going in the trenches.
Hope he recovers and you all have great season! And maybe we meet in the playoffs!

Hey ,didnt Toms article say the rams announcers were praising Loper?

  5. Tom Gower Says:

Yeah, they did praise him. I wonder if they knew something we didn’t.

I am glad that they are cleaning this up while we have time and that it shouldn’t be a lingering issue throughout the season.
I like Loper. He can play both Guard and Tackle spots. He is a veteran and knows the calls. I don’t see that this as a bad thing to help get him some more time in.
