Titans-Packers Friday Injury Report

October 31, 2008

The injury report is out for this Sunday’s game against Green Bay, and here’s the scoop:

Out: LB Colin Allred (groin)
Doubtful: DE William Hayes (illness)
Questionable: CB Chris Carr (back), DE Kyle Vanden Bosch (groin)
Probable: DE Dave Ball (concussion), RB Quinton Ganther (concussion)

Doubtful: LB Desmond Bishop (hamstring)
Questionable: WR Jordy Nelson (ankle)
Probable: DE Jason Hunter (hamstring), LB Danny Lansanah (hamstring), T Chad Clifton (knees), QB Aaron Rodgers (right shoulder), CB Charles Woodson (toe)

For the Titans, Carr, KVB, Ball, and Ganther all participated in practice on Friday, and I’d expect all except possibly Ball to play Sunday.  For the Packers, the big news is CB Al Harris is expected back from his spleen injury and should play.  The Titans should be a decent team to ease him in against, alas.  QB Aaron Rodgers doesn’t practice on Fridays, so don’t read his listing on the injury report as being particularly meaningful.

7-0 Tennessee Titans: The ’72 Dolphins aren’t impressed

October 30, 2008

Monday Night’s statement win over the Indianapolis Colts cemented the Tennessee Titans as a legitimate contender in the eyes of many.

Apparently, members of the 17-0 1972 Miami Dolphins weren’t impressed.

In their minds, it’s only a matter of time before they engage in their annual ritual of popping the champagne bottles as the league’s last unbeaten team loses its first game.

Q&A Questions for the Packers

October 29, 2008

If it seems like the Titans just played, it’s because 48 hours ago, they were still playing.  Still, the NFL season moves on.  Among other things, that means it’s time for another Q&A session, this one with bloggers who cover the Green Bay Packers.  What would you like to know about Brett Favre’s former team?

Will Jim Schwartz be a head coach next year?

October 29, 2008

It wasn’t a surprise that the 49ers fired Mike Nolan as their head coach last week. What did surprise me was the timing of it, I thought it wouldn’t happen until after the season ended. It did get me to thinking about Jim Schwartz again.

After last night’s liveblog, I wanted to get some feedback from you, our readers, about a couple things.

Titans earn well-deserved respect in 31-21 win over Indy

October 28, 2008

The Tennessee Titans came up big when their best efforts were needed the most in their 31-21 primetime victory over Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts.

Faced with a 14-6 third quarter deficit, the Titans dominated the rest of the contest to seal their NFL-leading seventh win.

My thoughts on tonight’s statement victory, after the jump.

Colts-Titans MNF Links + Liveblog

October 27, 2008

For those of you looking for reading material as the ESPN talking heads blather on:
Mark Lillibridge of RealScouts predicted the Titans will run over the Colts.
Football Outsiders explains why all those Titans defensive penalties shouldn’t be a big reason for concern.
Ken Ilchuk of RealScouts breaks down the game, including keys to win and the big matchup, Freeney against Roos.
Eric Bartel of RealScouts picked a midseason underrated offense, and named both Roos and Jake Scott.
Matt Bowen of National Football Post adds his own breakdown, and picks the Colts to win.

Finally, feel free to participate in the liveblog I’ll be doing with the guys from 18to88 and MVN Outsider.

Colts-Titans Inactives

The list of inactives for tonight’s game is out:

DE Kyle Vanden Bosch
DT Kevin Vickerson

RB Joseph Addai
LB Buster Davis

I’ll have a separate post up shortly with the liveblog.

Pregame thoughts on the Titans vs Colts

October 27, 2008

Following are some random and partially disjointed thoughts about the Titans vs Colts Monday night game.
I’m getting excited about the Monday night game. Looking forward to a Monday afternoon/evening tailgate too. It’s been a long time since the Titans played at home on Monday night. If I’m not mistaken, that game was against the Chiefs in December of 2004 and I didn’t even get to go. I was in St. Louis that week and had to settle for watching the game on TV.

Total Titans questions about the Colts

October 26, 2008

Thanks to Deshawn Zombie of 18 to 88, a new and excellent addition to MVN, for being kind enough to answer my questions about the Colts.  My questions for him are in bold.  I found his replies very interesting, and think you will agree with me.
