Titans-Browns open game thread

This thread is for your comments before and during the Titans-Browns game tonight.
The good news for Tennessee is the return of center Kevin Mawae and middle linebacker Stephen Tulloch to the starting lineup.
Head coach Jeff Fisher has traditionally used this game as the dress rehearsal for the regular season and most of the starters should play into the third quarter. If you haven’t done so yet, check out Drexel’s preview of tonight’s game.

You want to see the best players on the field so it’s too bad some of the Browns starters will be out, especially Rogers, Tucker and Hadnot.

Quick notes – Dave Ball gets the start at LDE in place of Kearse, who didn’t dress. The Titans are getting Cook involved outside. Mawae looks a little rusty.

  2. Andrew Strickert Says:

A few more notes at halftime – The offense has moved the ball well against the 3-4. O-line played better than I expected but Browns were missing Rogers. Collins, Gage, Cook and Britt looked sharp. Crumpler blocked well and contributed catching the ball too. Young seemed poised and ran a two-minute drill pretty well until a poor decision on the goal line.
Interesting to see some of the DEs flip sides, Ball to the left and Ford to the right. Also interesting to watch both KVB and Ford go against Joe Thomas. McCourty got burned a few times but defense was rather stout overall. Finnegan on the left and Williams on the right might just be a move to give Finnegan some work on that side and to take a look at Williams against Cleveland’s first liners.

  3. Andrew Strickert Says:

McRath, Fowler, Keglar, Schommer, Nickey, Faggins, Davis all in to start the second half. Looks like the Browns still have a lot of starters in, except for Quinn, who left during the second quarter.

  4. Andrew Strickert Says:

    Quinn back in for Cleveland.
Mistakes by Vince on consecutive series are not a good sign. It’s important for him to hang in there and I’d like to see him do well again.
Kropog at RT, where he’s practiced all week, after being at LT for a month. I don’t see Durand out there.

  5. Drexel Perry Says:

Nice touchdown toss from Vince to Mulligan.

  6. Andrew Strickert Says:

Overall, I liked what I saw in the second half from both lines and the LBs. The depth at those position groups is not bad, considering the backups played fairly well against the Browns’ starters. It’s a wrap, Browns win 23-17.
