Vin-sanity! Titans defeat Cards in 20-17 thriller

November 29, 2009

Led by the exploits of the comeback kid a.k.a. Vince Young, the Tennessee Titans punctuated a 99-yard drive with a game-winning Kenny Britt TD reception in their exciting 20-17 victory over the Cardinals.

Vince threw for a career-high 387 yards as he added yet another chapter to his comeback story. Rookie Kenny Britt, in addition to snagging the game-winning grab, accounted for an impressive 128 yards on 7 receptions.

More on today’s thrilling Tennessee Titan victory…after the jump. (more…)

Titans vs. Cardinals preview

November 29, 2009

Later today, the Tennessee Titans will be seeking their fifth consecutive win when they face off against last year’s Super Bowl runner-ups: the Arizona Cardinals.

After starting off the season a dreadful 0-6, winning has become contagious for the Titans, who are looking to continue their improbable win-streak in their attempt to turn around what appeared to be a lost 2009 season just a month ago.

Winning consecutive game #5 won’t be an easy task, as today they’ll match up with an explosive Arizona Cardinal offense led by veteran QB Kurt Warner and physical wideouts Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin.

Here are a few thoughts on today’s Titans/Cardinals battle. (more…)

The Cardinals Report answers questions from Total Titans

November 28, 2009

This week Eli Wahlstrom of The Cardinals Report joins us for a question and answer exchange. Following are our questions for Eli with his answers. Later, I’ll post his questions for us with my answers.

Total Titans: What has happened to the Cardinals this year on the road? Last year, I think they were one of the worst road teams, especially when they had to come east, but this year they are undefeated on the road. Have they done something different to prepare for road games this year? (more…)

Titans-Cardinals question and answer exchange

November 27, 2009

A Great Friday to everyone! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving with family and friends and with lots of turkey and football.

We’ll try again this week to do a question and answer exchange with a writer who covers the opposing team. If you have a question, suggest it in the comments section below and I’ll ask it.

One thing I definitely wanted to ask about was Rod Hood and why the Cards let him go. What would you like to know about the Cardinals?

Titans continue winning ways by topping Texans

November 24, 2009

The Tennessee Titans continued their recovery from an 0-6 start that included back-to-back blowouts showed to all or much of the country by beating the Houston Texans, 20-17, on Monday night football. Chris Johnson paced the Titans offensively, while Vince Young continued his career resurgence, and Rob Bironas hit two field goals from 50+, including the game-winner in the last minute as Texans K Kris Brown missed twice from similar range, including one at the end that would have forced overtime. For a blow-by-blow summary, check out the liveblog I did.

The game was pretty even from start to finish, as neither team had a multi-score lead the entire game. The Texans opened the scoring with a Slaton TD reception after drive that started in Titans territory after a short punt, but the Titans came back and matched that with a 10 play, 80 yard drive capped by a VY pass to Britt. The Texans went back up, 14-7, after Andre Johnson beat Nick Harper at the line and hauled in a 12 yard pass to end a 58 yard drive, but the Titans equalized their next possession when LenDale White plunged in from 1 yard out in the last minute of the second quarter.

Titans-Texans Liveblog

November 23, 2009

As Andrew mentioned, I’ll be liveblogging tonight’s Titans-Texans game on ESPN Monday Night Football beginning at 7:30 PM CT. In the interim, the list of inactives is out for tonight’s game and includes the following Titans:

LB Colin Allred, WR Justin Gage, DT Jason Jones, DE Jevon Kearse, T/G Troy Kropog, RB Alvin Pearman, RB Javon Ringer, LB David Thornton

Kenny Britt gets another start in place of Mr. Gage, while Gerald McRath gets another start of his own in place of Thornton. Yes, this does seem to indicate Nick Harper will regain his starting position. I’d expect to see Jovan Haye start in place of Jason Jones, though Sen’Derrick Marks has come on nicely the last couple weeks. For the Texans, the inactives are:

CB Dominique Barber, CB Fred Bennett, DE Tim Jamison, WR Jacoby Jones, CB Antwaun Molden, DT Frank Okam, QB Dan Orlovsky (#3 QB), G Tutuan Reyes

I’ll be back around 7:20 PM CT to start the liveblog. To access the liveblog, please click the link below to launch a new pop-up window. Sorry, the re-designed site does not support embedding the liveblogging software.

Titans vs. Texans preview

November 21, 2009

Redemption will be on the minds of the Tennessee Titans (3-6) as they face the Houston Texans (5-4) in Monday’s prime-time AFC South showdown.

The Titans will be looking to avenge Week Two’s 34-31 shootout loss to the Texans. Despite the Herculean efforts of Chris Johnson, who accounted for 284 total yards, the Titans were undone by a shoddy defense that allowed Matt Schaub to rip them apart for 357 yards and four touchdowns.

Up next…a preview of this week’s Titans/Texans grudge match. (more…)

Titans-Texans Q&A

November 19, 2009

The Titans look to continue their winning ways on national television next Monday against the Houston Texans as they try to get revenge for last year’s defeat at Reliant Stadium.

We’ll be doing a Q&A with a Texans blogger to preview the game. If you have any questions you’d like to see answered, post ’em here and I’ll include them.
