Titans fans, what questions do you have for a Dolphins writer?

December 15, 2009

Ricky Williams and the Miami Dolphins are next up on the schedule for the Tennessee Titans. What questions would you like for us to ask a Dolphins writer about their team and their outlook on this week’s matchup?

Vin-sanity! Titans defeat Cards in 20-17 thriller

November 29, 2009

Led by the exploits of the comeback kid a.k.a. Vince Young, the Tennessee Titans punctuated a 99-yard drive with a game-winning Kenny Britt TD reception in their exciting 20-17 victory over the Cardinals.

Vince threw for a career-high 387 yards as he added yet another chapter to his comeback story. Rookie Kenny Britt, in addition to snagging the game-winning grab, accounted for an impressive 128 yards on 7 receptions.

Titans open 2009 preseason with win over Bills

August 9, 2009

Earlier tonight, the Titans kicked off the 2009 preseason at Fawcett Stadium in Canton, Ohio by taking on the Buffalo Bills.  Since this is the 50th season of the franchises, both the Titans and Bills took the field wearing the uniform styles they wore that first year of the AFL and which both teams will don again during the regular season.  There were also guys on the field in gold jackets, so 60’s fashion cool was on full display tonight.

Oh, they actually played a football game as well.  The Titans scored both of their first two possessions to take a quick 14-0 lead and added a TD late in the second half to take a 21-3 lead and went into the locker room up 21-6.  The offense didn’t add any more points the second half, but the Titans did manage to hold on and Jeff Fisher ended the game by taking an intentional safety for the gambler-delighting 21-18 lead.

For more on the game, check out the liveblog I did.  For more on players and whatnot, see after the jump.

The Titans will cut some good players this year

July 1, 2009

Training camp will be a battleground for roster spots
The Tennessee Titans will open training camp in just 4½ weeks and there won’t be many, if any, starting jobs to be won. You can pencil in the Opening Day starters, either returning starters or veteran free agents, at each position.
The jobs that will be competed for will be for depth behind those starters and the Titans have a lot of good players vying for roster spots. One good problem the Titans have is that there are more good players than roster spots available. Some difficult decisions will have to be made and some players good enough to be in the league won’t be good enough to earn one of 53 positions.
We’ll look closely at those players and roster spots in the coming weeks but for now I’d like to just take a very broad view. Following are the number of players at each position for the season opener last year.

Titans-Lions Injury Report

November 26, 2008

Not a real injury report per se, but it’s still the information we have, so here’s the scoop:

LB Colin Allred (concussion), LB Keith Bulluck (chest), CB Chris Carr (shoulder), CB Nick Harper (ankle), DT Jason Jones (foot), and OT Michael Roos (foot) all fully participated in Tuesday’s practice.  Harper, Allred, Jones, and DT Albert Haynesworth (knee) all did not participate in Monday’s practice, while Bulluck, Carr, Roos, DE Jevon Kearse (knee), WR Justin McCareins (ankle), and DE Kyle Vanden Bosch (groin) all were listed as limited participation in practice.  The latest word is that Harper and Jones are both good to go on Thursday.

For the Lions, LB Alex Lewis (pectoral), QB Dan Orlovsky (right hand), C Dominic Raiola (hand), CB Keith Smith (groin), QB Drew Stanton (concussion), and DE Dewayne White (calf) all missed Tuesday’s practice, while DT Shaun Cody (elbow), DT Chuck Darby (calf), WR Mike Furrey (concussion), G Edwin Mulitalo (knee), TE John Owens (toe), DT Cory Redding (knee), LB Ernie Sims (knee), and RB Kevin Smith (shoulder) all participated in practice on a limited basis.

In other injury-related news, the Titans have announced that Rafael Little will remain on the non-football injury list for the remainder of this season, and will be competing for a job come training camp 2009.
