Welcome to the new Total Titans

January 6, 2010

Welcome to the new, temporary (probably) home of Total Titans.  All posts from MVN’s reboot in December 2006 through mid-October 2009 should be uploaded, including comments.  Links, particularly those to previous posts, are likely to be broken, and images are almost certainly missing.  Posts since mid-October 2009 are currently being important sans comments; if anybody knows how to manually import comments, please post a comment below or send us an email.

Titans-Seahawks inactives, gameday thread

January 3, 2010

The following Titans are inactive for today’s game:

DT Tony Brown,  WR Dominique Edison, DE Jevon Kearse, T/G Troy Kropog, CB Jamar Love, CB Ryan Mouton, RB Javon Ringer, G Fernando Velasco

Rod Hood probably gets the start for Nick Harper in his return to the lineup, while Sen’Derrick Marks is listed as starting at DT for Tony Brown in a mild surprise over Jovan Haye.

For the Seahawks, the inactives are:

DT Red Bryant, WR Nate Burleson, G Trevor Canfield, LB Aaron Curry, TE CAmeron Morrah, QB Mike Teel (#3 QB), CB Josh Wilson, G Mansfield Wrotto

Please post your comments here during today’s game as we follow CJ’s quest for 2K.

Grading VY against the Chargers

January 1, 2010

Happy New Year, everybody.

When Vince Young took over as Titans quarterback following the bye week this year, the question every Titans fan was interested in seeing answered was whether or not VY had used his time on the bench wisely, whether or not he had decided to put in the hard work necessary to be an NFL quarterback; work that, if put in, hadn’t been apparent in his play in 2007 or in his limited work in 2008.

That question, happily for Titans fans, was answered in the affirmative; VY was confident and decisive in the pocket, and more accurate than he’d been in the playoff season of 2007. While this itself was a very encouraging sign, any quarterback willing to work operating with at least semi-competent coaches (which QB coach Craig Johnson and OC Mike Heimerdinger certainly are) could have at least some initial success.

Titans-Chargers inactives, gameday thread

December 25, 2009

The list of inactives is out and includes the following Titans:

LB Keith Bulluck, WR Dominique Edison, CB Rod Hood, DE Jevon Kearse, T/G Troy Kropog, RB Alvin Pearman, RB Javon Ringer, TE Craig Stevens

My condolences to anybody hoping to see Hood rather than the questionable, yet active Nick Harper.  No starting lineup changes are listed, nor did they put Bulluck on IR and add somebody as they did with Jamie Winborn in David Thornton’s roster spot.  Eric Bakhtiari is in the lineup, as I believe the Titans dress 9 DL for the first time this season.

For the Chargers, the inactives are:

RB Michael Bennett, LB Kevin Burnett, DE Jacques Cesaire, WR Buster Davis, C Eric Ghiaciuc, CB Dante Hughes, CB C.J. Spillman, QB Charlie Whitehurst (3rd QB)

Nick Hardwick returns to the starting lineup as center, while Eric Ghiaciuc was added for G/C Scott Mruczkowski.

Feel free to leave your comments here during today’s game.

December 24, 2009

Thanks to Ross Warner of the Chargers site Justice Is Coming for participating in this week’s Q&A session.  Thanks to Scott and Andrew for suggesting questions (sorry, Scott, I didn’t get your until after I’d sent the email to Ross).

Questions and answers follow beyond the jump.

Ask a Chargers blogger

December 22, 2009

As we normally do, we’ll be doing a Q&A with a Chargers blogger before this Friday’s Christmas night game.  If there are any questions you’d like to me ask, please post them below and I will ask them.

Titans-Dolphins inactives, gameday thread

December 20, 2009

The list of inactives is out for today’s game, and includes one regular starter out with injury.  Not VY, thankfully, but once again Gerald McRath gets a start in place of David Thornton.  Here’s the full list:

DE Eric Bakhtiari, WR Dominique Edison, CB Rod Hood, DE Jevon Kearse, T/G Troy Kropog, RB Javon Ringer, TE Craig Stevens, LB David Thornton

In the great “what DL are playing this week,” it’s Kevin Vickerson up and new acquisition Eric Bakhtiari down and Jevon Kearse remaining down.  Also, Kenny Britt is once again listed as the starter in place of Justin Gage.

For the Dolphins, its:

DE Ikaika Alama-Francis, DE Lionel Dotson,  T Andrew Gardner, OL Andrew Hartline, CB Evan Oglesby, RB Kory Sheeters, QB Tyler Thigpen (#3 QB), WR Patrick Turner

Two lineup changes for the Fins: Joe Berger starts in place of Jake Grove, while Nate Garner starts at RG in place of Donald Thomas.

Please use this post for your pre-game and post-game comments as you follow along with today’s action.

Titans-Rams inactives, gameday thread

December 13, 2009

The list of inactives is out for today’s game and thankfully contains no extreme surprises:

LB Colin Allred, TE Jared Cook, WR Dominique Edison, CB Rod Hood, DE Jevon Kearse, T/G Troy Kropog, RB Javon Ringer, DT Kevin Vickerson

Yes, you should expect to see VY starting at QB.  The release also notes that Kenny Britt will once again start at wideout in place of Justin Gage, though #12 is back in the lineup.  It further confirms DT Jason Jones has been placed on IR and that DE Eric Bakhtiari has been signed to the 53-man roster.  Given the absence of his name from the list above, he’ll be making his Titans debut; since I know nothing about him, I’ll be watching him with some interest.  For the Rams:

G Roger Allen, QB Marc Bulger, CB Danny Gorrer, S Clinton Hart, RB Chris Ogbonnaya, QB Mike Reilly (#3 QB), T Jason Smith, T Phil Trautwein

The only listed lineup change is Adam Goldberg starting at RT for Jason Smith.  Kyle Boller is active and will be starting at QB, presumably, so those of you hoping for Null are disappointed.

Feel free to leave your comments here during today’s game.
